Editora se defende da acusação de que teria mudado palavras na Bíblia para agradar muçulmanos

No inicio deste ano, diversos portais evangélicos noticiaram a informação de que duas prestigiosas organizações de edição e tradução de bíblias, a Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) e a Frontiers, estariam mudando em suas traduções os termos “Pai”, para “Senhor” e “Filho” ou “Filho de Deus” para “Messias”.

A repercussão desta informação gerou críticas e polêmicas em todo o mundo, ao tomar conhecimento disso a editora SIL, publicou em seu site uma nota de repúdio a essas informações dizendo que são falsas e afirmando que mantém a sua posição histórica que as traduções das Escrituras devem promover a compreensão do termo “Filho de Deus”, que inclui a relação de Jesus como Filho de Deus Pai. SIL afirma a divindade eterna de Jesus Cristo e exige que ela seja preservada em todas as traduções, e pede ajuda aos leitores para acabar com a falsa informação, pedindo que busquem analisar mais as fontes.

SIL responds to false accusations

Is it true that SIL supports removing “Son of God” and “God the Father” in Scripture translations? No.

(January 2012) In response to various recent public accusations, SIL restates emphatically: SIL does not support the removal of the divine familial terms, “Son of God” or “God the Father” but rather requires that Scripture translation must communicate clear understanding of these terms.
Without reservation, SIL's Scripture translation practice is to use wording which accurately communicates to the intended audience the relationship of Father by which God chose to describe Himself in relationship to His Son, Jesus Christ, as is stated in the original languages of Scripture. SIL affirms the eternal deity of Jesus Christ and insists that it be preserved in all translations.
SIL appreciates assistance in dispelling the falsehood that "SIL supports the removal of the divine familial terms." Campaigns of misinformation can be damaging if left unchallenged, so SIL encourages readers to take time to investigate the erroneous information that has been written elsewhere.
